About Us

Summer happiness at Chalet Keßler - nature, relaxation & farm experience

Holiday flat on a traditional farm in Tschagguns

Spend unforgettable days in the middle of the marvellous mountain world of the Montafon!
Our cosy holiday flat is quietly located on the outskirts of Tschagguns at around 685m above sea level and offers you not only a relaxing break, but also an authentic farm experience.

Enjoy the unique charm of a traditional farm, where we lovingly produce hay milk and fresh eggs for you. The fresh country air and the incomparable mountain scenery will make your stay a special experience.
Our cows spend the summer months on the Alpe Latschätz in the Gauertal, which is a marvellous hiking area. In summer, the sheep are on the Maisäß Matschwitz, which is easily accessible by cable car and can also be the starting point for other beautiful hikes!

You are welcome to actively participate in the farm activities in summer and help with the work in the garden or on the farm. This special connection to nature will enrich you with fresh impressions and unforgettable experiences.

Our holiday flat not only offers you the opportunity to relax, but also to take part in a varied adventure programme, the BergePlus programme for adults and children, which is freely available to you as a guest at Chalet Keßler.

Be enchanted by the surroundings and the atmosphere of a real farm and enjoy a holiday that combines nature, tradition and hospitality!

The Aktivpark Montafon and the Montafon Alpenbad are just a few steps away from the flat.

We look forward to getting to know you and your family!

Farm Products

Haymilk farming - tradition and quality from the Montafon
Our hay milk farming represents the most traditional and natural form of milk production. On our meadows in the valley, the grass thrives in nature, where it can grow in peace and quiet. In the summer months, the meadows are carefully mown and the fresh grass is then dried to produce high-quality hay.

This hay is then stored in our barns for the cold season - a sustainable method that enables our animals to be provided with valuable, natural feed even in winter. The animals that supply our hay milk enjoy this natural diet all year round, which is reflected in the quality and flavour of our products.

Haymilk farming is at the heart of our farm, which not only guarantees the quality of our milk and products, but also promotes a respectful approach to nature. This traditional farming method results in a genuine natural product that reflects the purest form of craftsmanship in every bottle of milk and every piece of cheese or butter.

With us you get:

  • Fresh hay milk (except in the summer months)
  • Alpine butter
  • ‘Sura Kees’ (only in the summer months)
  • Apple juice
  • eggs
  • Homemade jam, syrup, vinegar, herbal salts, herbal teas, soaps, ...
  • Products from Montafon stone sheep (slippers, decorative items, ...)

‘Sura Kees’ - a Montafon speciality with tradition
The ‘Sura Kees’ is a true delicacy from the Montafon and a regional speciality that shapes the history and culture of our valley. People in the Montafon have been making this unique cheese with great craftsmanship and dedication since the 12th century.

The ‘Sura Kees’ is made from fresh hay milk and is characterised by its particularly mild yet strong flavour. It is an integral part of traditional Montafon cuisine and a true symbol of the region's authenticity and craftsmanship.
The cheese is produced in small quantities and matures on the various alps of the Montafon.

Experience the flavour of the Montafon - a piece of history that comes alive in every bite of ‘Sura Kees’!

Animals

Our farm animals - part of our tradition and nature
Various animals live on our farm, reflecting the heart of our agriculture and our connection to nature.

Our dairy cows of the Braunvieh breed are known for their calm and gentle nature. We look after them with great care and dedication so that they provide us with the best hay milk, which is so important for our products. Our young cattle and calves also grow up here in a natural environment and enjoy the fresh mountain air and the lush grass of our meadows.

Another speciality are our Montafon stone sheep, a dying breed of animal that was once widespread in the Alpine regions. With their resilient nature, they are perfectly adapted to the harsh mountain climate and contribute to a sustainable balance on our farm and our meadows.

Our black cat is not only a favourite member of the family, but also a valued animal that helps us with natural pest control.

And let's not forget our chickens, who provide us with fresh eggs every day. They live in a generous environment and help to ensure that we can offer our guests healthy and fresh produce.

Our animals are an important part of the farm and contribute to the special character of our farm through their diversity and their role in agriculture.
