About Us

Arrive, come down, and experience nature!

The mountain cabin is located on the Pirkeralm, at around 1.300 meters above sea level, on the edge of a forest next to a large, lush alpine meadow. Here, our own organic cattle graze, enjoying the summer on the alpine pasture just like you. The cabin and the garden in front of it are enclosed by a fence.

On the same Oberwietingberg, Kirchberg, and Breitofneralm, as well as the Weißbergeralm, you’ll find not only countless hiking and forest trails but also a guesthouse (Forellenwirt, run by the Uitz family), a Buschenschank (Liegl family, also known as Irregger), and two managed mountain cabins (Breitofnerhütte and Weißbergerhütte). These can be reached on foot, by bike, or by car.

If you’re looking for more variety, a beautiful terraced swimming area in Klein St. Paul, the natural Längsee lake in the municipality of St. Georgen/Längsee, a showcave in Knappenberg (a good option for bad weather), and a summer toboggan run at Klippitztörl are all accessible by car in under an hour. For a stress-free shopping day, the charming old towns of St. Veit an der Glan or Klagenfurt are also in close proximity.

Here you can slow down and enjoy the absolute solitude - far away from stress and hustle.

Farm Products

We are happy to provide you with fresh milk in a 1L bottle, as well as schnapps 0,2 l bottles (distilled from your choice of apple, plum, pear, and pine, as well as cherry liqueurs) in a 0.3L bottle, all from our own organic production.

Animals

Next to the hut is our alpine meadow, where some of our calves spend the summer. It is truly delightful to observe the animals and share in their curiosity.

Please note that entering the meadow is at your own risk, and we ask that you do not disturb the animals. Dogs are not allowed in the meadow under any circumstances!

Mountain cabin "Pirkerhütte"

1 - 6 People

The mountain cabin is divided into two rooms (a sleeping area and a living-dining area).

The living and dining area features a wood stove for cooking and heating, a wash basin, a cozy, spacious seating area with a table, and a sofa bed.

In the bedroom, a double bed and two bunk beds, each with two sleeping spots, invite a communal sleeping experience reminiscent of times gone by. The bedroom is warmly and lovingly furnished.

Arrival

Our alpine hut is easy to find. Enter the address "Oberwietingberg 26, 9374 Wieting" into your GPS and follow the directions. Upon arriving at this address, you have not yet reached your destination. From this address, follow the signs for "Pirkerhütte" and turn left onto a gravel road for about 2.5 kilometers. You will then see a sign on a tree indicating a right turn. After turning right, you will reach the hut in just 150 meters and find parking for 2-3 cars.

If coming from Vienna via Bruck an der Mur, it is recommended to travel via the A2, then S6 or S37 to Treibach-Althofen. If coming from Salzburg, Villach, or Klagenfurt, travel via the A10 or A2 and then S37 to Treibach-Althofen. From there, continue via Silberegg to Guttaring, over the Schelmberg to Mösel. Then turn right and after 2 kilometers turn left onto Oberwietingberg (Breitofnerhütte) until you reach the address Oberwietingberg 26.

If coming from Burgenland or Graz, it is recommended to travel via Klippitztörl to 4 Linden. Then turn left towards Klein St. Paul, Wieting, and after 2.5 kilometers turn left again onto Oberwietingberg (Breitofnerhütte).
