About Us
Welcome to the Schwaigerlehen in Stuhlfelden!
Feel the history
This farmhouse on the Schwaigerlehen in Stuhlfelden, inside Hohe Tauern National Park, is over 500 years old and has been owned by the same family since 1892. In the process of renovations and maintenance, every effort has been made to preserve its original, authentic character and only to modernize where necessary. Countless historical details bring the heritage of this house to life.
Living at the Schwaigerlehen
Four farmhouse rooms on the first floor of the house accommodate up to ten people. Comfortable antique wooden furniture evokes a very special atmosphere. Natural materials, including lambskin mattresses and natural rubber, guarantee a restful night’s sleep. In winter, the tile stoves radiate cozy warmth.
Also consistent with the authentic character of this 500-year-old farmhouse, the toilets and bathrooms are not right in the rooms themselves, but rather on the ground floor of the house. However, a sink is provided in every room.
On weekdays, we serve breakfast at the family bakery just around the corner. Look forward to our specialty breads, homemade spreads, jams and so much more. At the weekend, we are happy to serve you breakfast at the farmhouse itself.
Dining at the Schwaigerlehen
The so-called Rauchkuchl is the heart of the farmhouse on the Schwaigerlehen. Here, we cook the way it has always be done, over an open fire. Host Tobias Bacher recently took over the business from his mother, Theresia, since when he has treated his guests to dishes made with all-natural ingredients, and for which he has already been awarded “one toque” in recognition. With only a few exceptions, he only incorporates regional products, many of which grow right here on the farm: mushrooms, berries, wild herbs, vegetables from the garden next to the farmhouse. You should definitely go ahead and book this marvelous culinary experience as part of your stay!
The historic farmhouse, with its iconic character, can also be booked as a location for film and photo shoots.
We look forward to welcoming you personally to the Schwaigerlehen in Stuhlfelden!
