In late autumn and winter, when the temperatures drop, our River Chalet is the ideal place to relax and unwind. When you listen to the fire crackling in the oven and look at the calm river, when you sit on the terrace wrapped up in a warm blanket and read a good book, when you take in the beautiful forest and river view displaying the colours of autumn or winter ... then, you don’t want to be anywhere else but here. Sometimes, you can even spot wildlife and get an unforgettable glimpse of western Carinthia’s flora and fauna. A holiday with the unique smiley ambience.
In our sauna area “Alpensteil” with three saunas (open from 7:00 to 22:00), it’s so easy to get the relaxation that you deserve.

Enjoy an unforgettable and unbeatable offer around Christmas time! Countless Christmas markets take place in the villages around Lake Millstättersee. A unique Christmas path is organised on the mountain Katschberg (from the end of October). A floating Christmas tree forest, a Christmas village in Spittal an der Drau and other outstanding attractions are the icing on the cake.

The ski resort “Goldeck” is only a 12 minutes’ drive. Four other ski resorts are within a 30 minutes’ drive from the River Chalet. In our natural surroundings, you can also go ice skating, alpine skiing, tobogganing, ice climbing, rowing, drive in a horse-drawn carriage or engage in other outdoor activities. At our place, you can ride on the snow on tubes, book a beginner’s ski class for kids or rent skis.

A free shuttle service brings you to the ski resorts Goldeck or Katschberg.

Doris, the “soul of the house” bakes fresh bread and loves to experiment in the kitchen. Try her culinary delights at the buffet. Try or buy home-made jams and juices, honey from Herbert, our neighbour, bacon, ham and sausages from farmer Heinrich.

Our sheep are grazing next to our chalet from May to September. We also have rabbits and guinea pigs in a fenced area on our meadow. Our donkeys spend their days outside, a bit off the house.

From Munich: via Salzburg on the highway A10 - exit “Gmünd (second exit after the long tunnel “Katschbergtunnel”). At the first roundabout, take the second exit. At the second roundabout, take the third exit in the direction of Spittal/Drau. Follow the road for 3 km through the village of Trebesing. Go past the first kids’ hotel and continue for another 2 km. You’ve reached your holiday destination.

From Vienna: via the highway A2. After Villach, continue in the direction of Salzburg. Take the exit “Seeboden”. Go right across the bridge and keep right in the direction of Gmünd. Follow the road for 5 km. You’ve reached your holiday destination.

From South Tyrol: via Bolzano - Bruneck - Lienz - Spittal, in the direction of Gmünd. Follow the road for 5 km. You’ve reached your holiday destination. From Switzerland: via Bregenz - Innsbruck - Rosenheim-Salzburg - highway A10 - exit “Gmünd” (second exit after the long tunnel “Katschbergtunnel”). At the first roundabout, take the second exit.
