Steinbachhof - Celebrate the simple life!

Welcome to Steinbachhof in Rauris!

Come alive: Our farm comes alive, the minute it senses some sign of life on it: Children laugh, run and play, parents chat, grandparents narrate their stories, dogs jump about on the meadows.
Traditionally farmhouses are "houses of generations", a place which the young and the old call home. More than this, it is an abode, where both generations are indispensable so that life goes well.
Being there: Being there for you by keeping our eyes and ears open for your desires and needs and for guaranteeing you the loveliest time in the year: Your holiday in the Austrian mountains in the Hohe Tauern National Park!
Fastidious: Keeping traditions alive and creating new traditions. Our farm is over 300 years old. The stones in its strong walls on the ground floor were hand picked and artistically arranged. The wood on the first floor was manually carved. We as a family vitalize this farm. Preserving the old and making room for the new.

The holiday apartments Rettenegg and Seidlwinkl are newly renovated and furnished and are fitted with several amenities to make your holiday at Steinbachhof comfortable and enjoyable. From the guest play area through to the spacious parlour on the ground floor, right up to the children's playground there is enough space for socialising and for enjoying periods of seclusion as well.
Flexible:Because every family has different needs, it is important for us to be flexible. We cater to individual expectations related to booking and flexibility to rearrange furniture, to find a suitable place for everyone.
With all your senses: During your time at Steinbachhof you will see, hear, smell, taste, feel and most importantly - play! My husband, an expert in forestry and I, an expert in kindergarten and Montessori education, look forward to having you enjoy your holidays here with all your senses! From explorers in diapers to the investigators in the stable, the forest and the wild animals.

At Steinbachhof we milk twice daily, in summer and winter. Why don't you try doing it yourself? Or at least take a sip of fresh milk - something you will get nowhere else.
Early in the morning the hens begin to cluck. That's when they lay their eggs. Look into the nest, who knows you might even get to pick some warm and fresh eggs for breakfast.
As a farmer and expert in forestry, Franz has a good knowledge of everything that is edible in the forest: Daisies and dandelions, nettles and sorrel...
Do you want to come along sometime and pick out your salad fresh from the meadow yourself?
Those looking for an easy way out can get their herbs and berries from us.

Bread service: Because your holiday should begin in a lazy, relaxed fashion, we offer our guests a fresh bread roll service. You can also ask for milk, butter and fresh jams along with this!

It's quite likely that our donkey Antonia Lilly will be the first to greet you as you enter the stable. She loves being petted and is forever hungry.
In winter our cows are in the shed, several calves are born and you may actually witness a baby calf being born.
In summer only our dairy cows and the youngest of the calves remain in Steinbachhof. The young cows are at Rettenegg alpine pasture (yes, that's why our holiday apartment has the name it does).
We can visit them there, to check that everything is fine. Rettenegg is a hiking and berry paradise. Most of the visits to Rettenegg usually end with appetising dishes made from blueberries.

It goes without saying that our animals also give us something in return. You may taste the fresh milk directly in the milk cabin or savour the fresh eggs for breakfast in the morning.

So that you get a complete feel of stable work, we also have boots and waterproof farm clothes in different sizes. For safety reasons, an adult must accompany the children when they help on the farm. Adults are kindly requested to bring boots and stable clothing (which can remain in the changing room). Thank you very much!
