What’s so special here?

The glacier on the Zugspitze is called “Schneeferner”. This is one of the largest glaciers in Germany. But why are we talking about Germany? I thought we were in Austria. In fact, you can access the Zugspitze from both sides, Tyrol (Austria) and Bavaria (Germany). The state border runs exactly on the summit of this majestic mountain. The hiking trails and winter activities are organised by both countries, Austria and Germany.
