About Us
Our farm is situated on a dreamy location on the sunny side of the Gailtal Alps, just 3 km above St. Daniel. In the midst of untouched nature, are three vacation apartments inviting you to experience eventful vacation days or simply relax with your family. You can enjoy our fresh, high quality organic farm-made products such as butter, milk, eggs, wood-oven baked bread every day! Cows and calves, chickens, ducks, rabbits, cats, and, of course, our dog Balu romp about our farm throughout the year! We regularly organize excursions for our guests, including visiting our animals at Jaukenalm, or cozy BBQ nights and cooking Kärntner Nudel (Carinthian Noodles) together! Come look around our barn and observe how our work is done on the mountain farm, how the animals live or even how we bake our bread in the wooden oven!
The Gail River natural recreation area lies in the immediate vicinity and the Gail bike trail awaits adventurous bikers! You can embark on many hikes and mountain tours right from our apartment door! Excitement, relaxation, eventful days with the family: these all await you at Bio-Bergbauernhof Weger! We look forward to having you!
About Us
Ah, wonderful! Enjoy a peaceful vacation away from mass ski tourism and noisy après-ski bars!
Our organic mountain farm is nestled in untouched nature on the "sunny side" of the Gailtal Valley. Well-maintained roads will take you in just 3 km from St. Daniel to "Rübenstöffl." Three cozy holiday apartments invite you to relax and unwind after a full day of skiing or an exhilarating ski tour, such as to the Jaukenalm.
Guided ski tours to the peaks of the Carnic and Gailtal Alps can be booked through the ÖAV or private mountain and ski guides. We are happy to assist you with the selection.
Snowshoeing is the absolute trend! You can start a snowshoe hike right from your doorstep. Whether with a professional walking instructor (bookable on-site) or on your own is up to you.
The access points to the well-groomed cross-country ski trails of our community are just a 10-minute drive away. Trail maps are available upon request.
Our award-winning, farm-produced organic products, such as wood-fired bread, butter, milk, natural and fruit yogurt, eggs, curd, curd spread, curd balls in oil, jams, juices, and homemade brandy, are available fresh daily in our small farm shop. Our farm has been run in a certified organic manner since 1996, and this commitment to organic principles is present throughout your stay, from our own spring water to the soap in the bathroom.
And as the last rays of sunlight disappear behind the mountain peaks in the evening, a fantastic day at the Bergbauernhof Weger slowly comes to an end in the cozy kitchen of your holiday apartment...
We offer fresh and high-quality organic farm-based products everyday:
milk, butter, eggs, yogurt, wood-oven baked bread, domestic coal and egg liqueur.
You can also purchase marmalade, syrup and Gailtaler mountain cheese g.U.
As a service for our guests we also offer some delicacies from our friendly producers:
Gailtal honey, organic spelt noodles, organic spelt flour, and organic sunflower oil
Around 25 cattle live on our farm throughout the year. The calves are born in the winter season, while the animals are in the pasture during the summer. A couple of them can take a "vacation" and spend their summer in the Jaukenalm cabin. Each summer we also have cows on the "Treßdorfer Alm" where we get our delicious mountain cheese in the fall.
Our chickens are also responsible for your breakfast as well as our guinea pig Lilly and rabbits Romeo and Blacky, our cats and of course our farm dog Priska who always offers you a nice loud welcome.
We feed our milk cows in the stable during the breastfeeding times every morning and evening (around 5:30 AM and 5:00 PM). Come visit us and watch closely where our milk comes from! You can also feed the rabbits and chickens, who always enjoy your bio-waste by the way...
Let us know if you'd like to walk our dog Priska and we'll make sure nothing gets in the way. Please keep her on the leash at all times.
