About Us

The enchanting ‘Chalet Almhaus Strobl’ is situated in a secluded location amidst the unique landscape of the UNESCO Nockberge Biosphere Reserve. A special spot for your exceptional holiday at any time of year.

On the Laufenberg above the village of Radenthein and nestled in a dreamlike winter landscape, this flat is the perfect place to relax, slow down and also a romantic retreat for two.

The ‘Almhaus Strobl’ was built in 1996 in a secluded location at 1300 metres above sea level using natural materials such as bricks and lots of wood.

The cosy 40m2 chalet in the basement of the ‘Almhaus Strobl’ was renovated and redesigned between 2023 and 2024 with a lot of love, an eye for detail and a successful mix of rustic cosiness and a certain touch of luxury.

The fantastic panoramic view over the Gegendtal, Brennsee, Radenthein, Feld am See and the Karawanken is unique - with views of the Nockalm, the Priedröf, the Kaiserburg, the Tobitscher Nock and the legendary Mirnock power mountain.

The Nockberge mountains are a true paradise for hiking, biking, skiing, ski touring and snowshoeing.

You can enjoy the most marvellous tours directly from the chalet.

This makes the ‘Chalet Almhaus Strobl’ the ideal location for an active yet relaxing holiday in the mountains.

Rosennock, Langalmtal, Millstätter Höhe with Granattor, Lammersdorfer Hütte, Alexander Hütte and Ochsenalm are just a few of the excursion destinations in the immediate vicinity.

It is 8 km to Radenthein in the valley. Here you will find: supermarkets, drugstore, post office (at Billa), pharmacy, doctors, petrol station, outdoor pool, restaurant ‘Gartenrast’, pizzeria ‘La Strada’ and cheese dairy ‘Kaslabm’ with agricultural products from the region, as well as the adventure museum ‘Granatium’.

10 km to Feld am See and 15 km to Afritz am See for ice skating and then to the Strobl bakery and confectionery, world-famous for its farmhouse+wholemeal bread, cakes, tarts and organic pastries. 

16 km to Bad Kleinkirchheim, the Ski World Cup resort with two thermal swimming pools, the Römerbad and the St. Kathrein thermal spa, as well as an attractive cross-country ski trail. You will also find numerous excellent restaurants here. In BKK, the mega event ‘Wenn die Musi spielt’ takes place every year in winter. 

Millstatt Abbey on the lake is approx. 25 km away. A trip to the Millstatt Advent market with regional products is well worthwhile.

The closest ski areas are: Bad Kleinkirchheim, Turracher Höhe, Falkert, Goldeck/Spittal, Katschberg.

Our rustic, very cosy ‘Almhütte Strobl’ for a maximum of 4 people, which is also available for rent, is situated in a secluded location within sight above our Almhaus.

Chalet Almhaus Strobl

1 - 2 People

The cozy 40m2 chalet on the first floor of the “Almhaus Strobl” was largely renovated and redesigned by my husband and myself in 2023-2024 with a lot of love, an eye for detail and a successful mix of rustic coziness and a certain touch of luxury.

The “Strobl-Alm” in Zödl am Laufenberg is a special spot for your exceptional vacation at any time of year.

Another special feature that makes our retreat oasis so unique is the wooden fountain - carved by my husband Stefan himself - with first-class drinking water quality from our own mountain spring. A fountain of youth, as well as refreshing cooling on hot summer days.

Spoiled by the sun, the spacious 24m2 terrace, scented with larch wood, invites you to chill out and barbecue.

The spacious bedroom is stylishly and comfortably furnished with two reading sofas, infinity double bed and en-suite bathroom. 

The cozy kitchen-cum-living room made of old wood is fully equipped - electric stove with oven, large fridge with freezer compartment, filter coffee machine, a toaster and a kettle. There are plenty of dishes, pans and pots.   

Throughout the apartment you can enjoy water from our own mountain spring with the purest drinking water quality - both in the kitchen and in the bathroom and shower.

All rooms in the chalet are equipped with underfloor heating, which creates a really cozy atmosphere.

The fragrant larch floors in the apartment and both terraces are made of wood from our own forest.

Coming from Vienna, Lower Austria, Burgenland, Styria, Italy, Slovenia:

Take the A2 south motorway to the Villach/Treffen/Ossiacher See exit. From Treffen 20 km on the B98 to Radenthein. In Radenthein take the first exit on the right at the roundabout Villacherstraße/B88. Approx. 300m to Billa, after 100m take the first left, after another 150m turn right towards Kaning (Knappenstraße L18). After 4.1 km turn left over the bridge onto Bergmannstraße. After 1.2 km turn left over the bridge to Zödl-Ebene. After 1.5 km (cable car) turn left towards Oberfriessnig. Another 2.2 km to Chalet Almhaus Strobl. Arrive and enjoy:)

Take the A10 motorway to the Seeboden/Millstättersee exit. 19 km on the B98 to Radenthein. In Radenthein take the first exit on the right at the roundabout Villacherstraße/B88. Approx. 300m to Billa, after 100m take the first left, after another 150m turn right towards Kaning (Knappenstraße L18). After 4.1 km turn left over the bridge onto Bergmannstraße.
