"Riding is a dialogue between two bodies and two souls, with the aim of achieving complete harmony between the two."
Riding lessons in the yards at the Marx farmhouse have been designed in accordance with this motto. In the lessons, riding enthusiasts will learn not only about riding on the basis of natural horsemanship but also how to handle horses, as well as lots of interesting facts about equine behaviour.
Get to know Styria! With their fish stocks, Styria and Neuberg an der Mürz (one of the cleanest bodies of water in the world) are a paradise for anglers. The Marx farmhouse is set in a sunny and quiet location at the foot of the snowy Alps, 850 m above sea level in the heart of the Mürzer Oberland natural park, with a clear view of the village at the forest's edge. Our 300-year-old Styrian farmhouse, formerly in Imperial possession, offers generously appointed country-style holiday apartments!
Your children are exceptionally well catered for. For the very youngest guests there is a petting zoo with lots of animals, which can also be fed. There is also a playground with a treehouse and a sandpit, as well as a bathing lawn, campfire and barbecue area. It is possible to help out in the stable, and there is a pony carriage for children. In Neuberg there is a natural bathing pool, and the Mürz offers plenty of lovely swimming areas. The Mürzer Oberland natural park offers many activities for children and adults.We hope that we've given you a sneak preview of our country-style farmhouse and the recreational possibilities, and would be delighted to welcome you here!
About Us
Get to know the green heart of Austria, Styria and Naturpark Neuberg an der Mürz. Here you can enjoy winter in a variety of different ways: Find peace on the winter hiking trails through nature. Get active on the natural tobogganing run, curling or cross-country skiing, with ski tours on the Schneealpe or Hohe Veitsch. For skiing and snowboarding fans there are lifts nearby for Niederalpl, Hohe Veitsch, Semmering, Spital, Mariazell.
The kids can run around on the meadow just in front of the door. In this way everyone can recuperate from day to day life. The Steirische Stube is the place to meet in the Marx Bauernhaus. Meet in a cosy atmosphere to chat, play or celebrate. We hope that we've given you an idea of our country-style farmhouse and the recreational possibilities, and would be delighted to welcome you here!
We don't have farmyard produce, but there is a farmer's shop nearby and a grocer's in the nearby town.
Our family lives at close quarters in the Marx farmhouse together with 2 Haflingers; and Sientje, Stormy, a Welsh Pony named Fleurtje, the sheep Juultje, the mini pigs Sissi and Franz the cat Josey, ducks, chickens, Ferdinand the rooster, guinea pigs and rabbits, and last but not least our very favourite Lui, a Labrador cross.
We can't imagine life without animals!
We have safety helmets and safety vests for riders to borrow during riding lessons.
