Large playground, go-karts, baking bread together, tractor rides, pony riding, cuddling with the cats, take our goats for a walk & much more
Stay in our granary
Apart from our apartments, guests can stay in our former granary "Troadstöckl". About 30 m from our farm, it's ideal for two families.
About Us
Welcome to our farm Schafflhof!
On our organic 4* farm for babies and kids, we offer our guests a holiday home with two units as well as three holiday apartments that are cosy and carefully designed and furnished entirely in wood. On request, you can book an organic breakfast (except stays in our granary “Troadstöckl”).
On our farm Schafflhof, families with kids, nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts who love to go hiking and cycling can relax, explore the region and recharge their batteries.
Far away from traffic and nestled in beautiful natural surroundings, you’ll find our lively farm with lots of animals and a nature-oriented family. From the holiday apartments, you can take in a splendid view of the rolling countryside that the Mühlviertel region is known for. Look forward to plenty of space and recreation. Lovely hideaways such as hammocks and loungers on the meadow in front of the holiday home, the pergola in the garden or the cabin on the hill next to the farm are ideal places to relax.
What makes children’s eyes sparkle:
- lots of animals
- a large playground
- go-karts
- taking our goats on a walk
- baking bread and buns with farmer Renate (once a week)
- a tractor ride with farmer Christian (once a week)
- pony riding (once a week)
Our family looks back on a long history of organic farming. The whole family cares a lot about working in harmony with nature. Since 1976, the farm Schafflhof adheres to organic farming principles. We produce a lot of food ourselves and run a farm shop. Read more in “Farm Products”.
With its silent forests, fairytale rivers and mountains of the Bohemian Forest that boast fantastic views, the Mühlviertel region is a great destination to go hiking, country walking, cycling or to simply relax. Outdoor enthusiasts can check out the archery course in Peilstein or the outdoor climbing centre in Schöneben. A number of local enterprises open their doors and offer guided tours, for example the apiary “Erlebnisimkerei Hüttner”, the oil mill “Mühlviertler Ölmühle” or farmers who grow hops. In addition to a range of museums, these venues make for a diverse programme, also on cold and rainy days.
We are looking forward to welcoming you on our farm Biohof Schafflhof!

Our organic breakfast can be booked on request during a stay in one of the holiday apartments (not in the granary “Troadstöckl”).
It consists of hot drinks, 2-3 juices, home-made buns and bread, cold cuts, meatloaf, smoked meat, bacon, different types of cheese, butter, muesli, honey, jam, seasonal fruit and an egg, if wished.
Our family looks back on a long history of organic farming.
In our farm shop and during your stay, we offer an array of organic food produced on our farm and home-made culinary delights:
- Bread and buns
- Potatoes (different species)
- Linseed oil
- Herbs
- Apples
- Juices
- Spelt products (noodles, rice and flour)
- Meat and sausage from young cattle
Local organic farmers supply us with cheese, honey, etc. This way, we manage to use and offer almost 100% organic products for our meals and in our farm shop. Enjoy filling your plate or your shopping basket with the fresh and healthy harvest from our fields and gardens!
Our meadows supply our animals with precious hay. On 8 ha of arable land, we cultivate different potato species and grains. We produce spelt flour, spelt semolina, spelt berries and spelt noodles. From our forest, we get timber for construction works. The rest - branches, shrubs and small trees - is shred and fuels our woodchip heating system in the farmhouse and the holiday apartments.
We raise a herd of suckler cows: Their calves stay with the herd and are allowed to be fed by their mothers at any time.
Romy, our horse, is a Connemara pony. It’s a very undemanding saddle-horse and more than 20 years old by now. Anyone who would like to try sitting on horseback is welcome to.
Christian, the farmer, offers guided horse-riding sessions for children once a week. Simply ask Christian or Renate for more information.
Our two goats can be taken on walks.
Caution! Goats are very picky. They love to eat flowers and ornamental plants. That’s why we don’t take them to the farmyard but go outside via the large barn gate instead. There are plenty of herbs on the meadows for our goats to snack on.
The hens in the henhouse behind the barn provide us with fresh eggs for breakfast. The eggs can be collected after 10 am. You’ll get a basket from Gusti or Renate in the kitchen.
Our runner ducks are roaming around our farm and constantly looking for snails. We try not to disturb them during their work.
Last but not least, our cats - the kids’ favourite animals. We feed them every morning. During the day, they are looking for mice around the farm. Cats are not allowed in our house. There’s plenty of space for them in the barn and in the shed.
In our private fishing pond, older children can try to catch a trout if someone’s with them who knows the premises and helps them.
