About Us
Built in 1740, the Schnaitstadlalm welcomes you at 1300 metres above sea level in the middle of the Spielbergalpe in Krispl-Gaißau in Salzburger Land.
The rustic-original construction of the alpine hut, with its original hut character and partly low room heights, has been retrofitted with modern comforts.
Experience the pleasure of waking up in the middle of nature, a marvellous mountain panorama, family hikes, alpine flowers, grazing animals in the entire alpine pasture area, family discussions, mushroom hunting, exploring the forest, great excursions into Salzburger Land or to the nearby city of Salzburg.
Our excellent organic lamb is used exclusively in the mountain hut kitchen of the Latschenalm, which is also run by our family and can be reached after a 30-minute hike from the Schnaitstadlalm.
We also offer our guests - on the menu of the Latschenalm - many different home-made alpine herb juices.
There are catered mountain huts near the Schnaitstadlalm (5 - 30 min walk).
Experience on the alpine pasture:
- Hay harvest of our alpine pasture mowing in midsummer
- Media fasting - "Everyday life out - enjoyment in" A relaxed alpine holiday without WLAN, TV and mobile phone reception only in front of the hut!
- You can start simple family hikes or a mountain bike tour directly from the hut.
- The alpine path is also suitable for pushchairs.
You can reach the hut in your own car (please no lowered vehicles) via a well-maintained, gravelled forest road.
Barrier openers are provided.
The hut is fenced off from the rest of the alpine pasture and grazing area. Free private car park directly at the hut.
- Bachelor parties or similar. Events are not permitted.
- Pets are not allowed.
Sheep farming has a long tradition in the mountain regions of SalzburgerLand. The organic breeding of the Tyrolean mountain sheep breed is perfect for our farm, primarily for meat production, but also for landscape conservation. The lush and clean meadows of our alpine landscape, which has been nurtured and cared for by our ancestors for centuries, are ideal for keeping these frugal ruminants. In the beautiful landscape of the Spielbergalm, our woolly contemporaries find the food and living conditions that give them their special quality. Herbs and grasses from the alpine pasture and fresh mountain spring water guarantee healthy, slow growth.
We serve our guests delicacies from our own farm on the Latschenalm, which we also manage.
The Schnaitstadlalm is located in the centre of the Spielbergalpe alpine pasture area, which is situated at an altitude of 1200-1500m above sea level. The alpine pastures cover an area of over 129 hectares and extend from the Spielberg (1,428m) via the Wieserhörndl (1,567m) to the Anzenberg (1,469m).
Suckler cows with their calves, bulls and flocks of sheep are driven up to the Spielbergalm from around the beginning of June to the end of September by the 21 alpine farmers entitled to a share in the Spielbergalpe agricultural community.
From our organic farm "Schnaitstadlhof" we drive a herd of Tyrolean mountain sheep to the Spielbergalm.
