About Us

The rustic, cosy and very comfortably equipped Ursteinhütte mountain chalet invites you to take a soothing break in the Kitzbühel mountains. Here, winter becomes a winter dream, and the altitude means that snow is often guaranteed until the end of April.

Our Ursteinhütte was renovated in 2016 in the noble Tyrolean alpine style. Amenities such as an environmentally friendly geothermal heating system, 2 bathrooms and 2 separate toilets were installed.

The heart of the cottage is the cosy living room with an open roof, a wood stove, a large set of seats and a 50 inch flat screen TV.

Via the open gallery you can reach 3 double and 1 twin room on the upper floor.

The well equipped kitchen is directly connected to the dining room via an open passage.

The real luxury, however, is right outside the front door, enjoy the view of the impressive natural scenery already at breakfast on the terrace, ski tours and snowshoe hikes, winter hikes in the valley from the hut door, skiing is already possible in the nearby village Kelchsau, here you will find a small but very demanding ski area for experts and beginners. Skiwelt Wilder Kaiser/Brixental (large and attractive) can be reached after 12 km near Hopfgarten.

Directly in front of the hut door one of the most beautiful mountain tours of Tyrol is waiting for you. In about 1.5 hours you reach the "Neue Bamberger Hütte", a mountain inn that is open all year round. If you are in good enough shape, you can go from there to several mountain lakes and countless peaks.

On the alp you will find waters for every taste. For the little ones there are little brooks that they like to dam up or divert, for the big ones there are torrents or the river in the valley, which can become quite roaring in a thunderstorm.

Culinary delights are also well catered for in the immediate vicinity. Why not take a short walk to the neighbouring Käse-Alm. The Niederkaser-Alm is farmed from the end of May to October, where you can get board snacks, drinks, cheese and other regional products. In 2km distance at the end of the valley you will find the Gasthof Wegscheid with very good Tyrolean cuisine.

Farm Products

Culinary excursions in the surroundings - for example to the Niederkaseralm alpine pasture breakfast from 10:00 am. Even on longer mountain tours you will find a very inviting mountain inn above the tree line at approx. 1,700m (Neue Bamberger Hütte, Schutzhütte, summer/winter). Also at the end of the valley, about 2km walk from the hut, you will find the Alpen Gasthaus Wegscheid with traditional Tyrolean cuisine. Furthermore, in the nearby neighboring valley "Langer Grund" there are several inns spread over 12 km, Moderstock, Brennhütte, Tiefental bar

Animals

Cows and calves graze on our alp from the end of May to the beginning of October. Deer and roe deer can often be observed from the hut.

Arrival

The last 4 km is a toll road, toll charge 4€. On this section a general snow chain is obligatory in winter. The road runs all the time on the valley floor, no danger of falling, only the torrent accompanies the road, there are a few danger spots (deep creek bed next to the road).
