About Us
In the middle of the Gauertal valley with a view of the Three Towers in the Montafon, Vallaster's Hof with the Gauertaler Maisäß offers plenty of space for up to 10 people.
In the surrounding area in the middle of the Rätikon, there are numerous mountain huts that offer refreshments, such as the Lindauer Hütte or the Gauertaler Haus, the Untere Latschätzalpe or the Untere Sporaalpe.
The regionally typical Maisäß offers rest and relaxation in the midst of impressive mountain and forest scenery in the south of Vorarlberg. It is the ideal starting point for leisurely alpine hikes, lake walks and sporty mountain or bike tours. In the surrounding area, the Golm adventure mountain also awaits with numerous activities such as the forest slide and forest rope park, Alpine Coaster, Flying Fox, the explorer trail or the AlpKulTours to discover the cultural landscape with the Montafon corn fields and Alps.
Cool off on hot summer days in the mountain streams or in the Montafon activity park with swimming pool, volleyball court, minigolf, adventure forest, activity park tent, tennis, golf or football.
The Gauertaler Maisäß is the ideal starting point for hiking and biking tours, relaxation and activity in the Gauertal and the Montafon.
The hut is directly accessible by car in summer in all weathers with a driving licence. If you arrive by train or bus, it is a three kilometre walk or you can use our transfer service on the day of arrival and departure.
ATTENTION!
The key as well as the driving licence is available in 6780 Schruns, Gantschierstraße 7

I look forward to hearing from you.
Christoph Vallaster
At the associated farm in the valley I offer in my own farm shop
- mountain cheese
- and the typical regional sour cheese
- (Montafon Sura Kees)
in the farm shop.
Surrounding alpine and mountain huts in the Gauertal also offer local sales of farm products. You can also easily reach other farm shops and farm shops in the valley as well as local suppliers and infrastructure for your daily needs.
The home farm in the valley is run as a year-round dairy farm with its own offspring. There are no farm animals directly on the Gauertaler Maisäß.
I look forward to welcoming you directly to the farm - Vallaster's Hof - in Schruns.
I will be happy to give you and your children access to observe the animals or tell you something about my traditional farming life in the Montafon in Vorarlberg.

By car
Once in Vorarlberg (A), take the A14/E60 Rheintal- und Walgauautobahn motorway in the direction of Bludenz. Leave the motorway at exit 61 Bludenz/Montafon. Keep right after 750 metres and follow the B188 towards Montafon as far as Schruns-Tschagguns. After the Tschagguns railway station and the Green Naturel Motel, turn right off the B188 (Rätikonstraße) over the Illbrücke bridge in the direction of Latschau/Golm onto Kreuzgasse. Pass the Salzgeber butcher's shop and the SPAR supermarket and follow Latschaustraße for around three kilometres to the Latschau reservoir. Turn left at the reservoir and follow Latschaustraße past the second smaller reservoir, the fire station and the Latschau hiking car park into the valley towards Gauertal. Following the Gauertalweg past Herlinde's Hüsli, the Hotel Montabella and the Nostalgie Berghof Piz, you will reach the Gauertaler Maisäß (Gauertalweg 31) on the left-hand side of the road after around three kilometres.
Alternatively, you can use the Silvretta High Alpine Road from the east (coming from Tyrol) via the Paznaun Valley in summer.
By train/bus
via Innsbruck or Bregenz/Feldkirch to Bludenz. There you change to the Montafon railway, which takes you comfortably to Schruns. From there, bus no. 601 takes you to Latschau-Golmerbahn, from where you can easily walk the last three kilometres. Or you can enquire about a transfer.
By aeroplane
From the nearest airports St. Gallen (Altenrhein), Zurich, Memmingen, Friedrichshafen and Munich you can reach us by train/bus or the airport shuttle services.
The Gauertaler Maisäß is accessible in all weathers in summer and is the ideal starting point for hiking and biking tours, relaxation and activity in the Gauertal and the Montafon.
