About Us
Sleep in a wagon - holidays for nature and animal lovers
On our farm Esperanzahof, we offer three extraordinary wagons incl. WC, shower, kitchenette (cooktops, oven, fridge) and terrace. They are located a bit off Esperanza, our centre for animal-assisted pedagogics, right next to the alpacas’ pasture and the barns where our approx. 80 animals live.
Get to know them better, if you like. Make friends with the animals right next to your front door. If you like, you can help in the barn or join us on a walk with the animals.
Listen to the cackling hens and the hee-hawing donkeys. Walk through the dewy grass. Feel life with all your senses.
On our farm, you’ll wake up between meadows and pasture fences - always close to nature. A holiday outdoors is a wonderful way to find relaxation. Sleeping in a wagon on our farm Esperanza-Hof is a very special experience. Reconnect with yourself, immerse your senses in the sights and sounds of the surroundings, be aware in the present moment.
You can also spend a special time on our farm with your own horses. (There’s space for up to 3 horses.)
The surroundings are ideal for hikes, country walks and cycling tours in the beautiful scenery of the Prealps in the Mostviertel region, Lower Austria. The ravine of the river Erlauf in Purgstall (“Erlaufschlucht”) is a popular destination for day trips and hikes (7 km from our farm).
In winter, the immediate surroundings of our farm are great for contemplative long walks far from the hustle and bustle of large ski resorts. At the same time, Lower Austria’s most attractive winter hot spots are not far. The ski resort “Lackenhof/Ötscher” or the cross-country ski trails in Puchenstuben are a 40-minutes’ drive. The ski resort “Hochkar” is a 1-hour’s drive.

Our farm produce - natural treasures from Esperanzahof
We are passionate about creating a special range of products on our farm Esperanzahof. Treasures that nature provides you with. Get to know our hand-made alpaca hair soaps, soft alpaca wool, warm insoles and beanies. Or do something good to your garden by using our alpaca’s manure as a natural fertiliser. Every product reflects our connection with nature - locally sourced and made with love.
Start your stay on our farm Esperanzahof with a large breakfast basked (to be ordered two days before arrival at the latest). It’s filled with fresh bread, home-made jam, locally sourced honey, yoghurt, savoury spreads, butter, milk and eggs from our chicken (subject to availability) for EUR 25 (2 people) or EUR 35 (4 people). A piece of nature for a delicious start of the day - prepared with great care.
Our animals and their home
Esperanza, chaired by Mag.a Martina Kotzina, has been offering animal-assisted pedagogical support for children and teenagers for more than 20 years. More than that, it’s also home to about 70 animals: donkeys, horses, sheep, alpacas, mules, Kunekune pigs, chicken, ducks, budgies, guinea pigs, cats, dogs and a turtle. Let us introduce some of them: the shimmering ducks “Gina”, “Gini”, “Mrs. Horst” and “Lord”, the cats “Stello”, “Rapunzel”, “Moritz” and “Cola” and our dog “Oscar” with his girlfriend “Laika”, the fluffy alpacas “Bella”, “Benita”, “Bibiane”, “Alaya”, “Cosima”, “Ebony”, “Elisa” and “Miele”, our friendly donkeys “Wiggerl”, “Raphael”, “Wilma”, “Rosinante”, “Bernie” and “Benjamin”, our two mules “Mauli” and “Muli”, the horses “Nelson”, “Barcley”, “Jacob”, “Czar” and “Yakari”, our pigs “Leo” and “Sam”, the woolly sheep “Lisa”, “Lotta”, “Elvis”, “Gustav”, “Leon”, “Lilli”, “Willi”, “Ursi”, “Ulli”, “Timo”, “Till”, “Sixtus”, “Mundi”, “Lissi”, “Sunny” and “Orange, the sociable budgies “Willi”, “Menthos”, “Merlin”, “Stitch” and “Lilu”, the bouncy guinea pigs, the colourful flock of chicken and our turtle “Hellena”.
If you’d like to get to know our farm even better, you can help in the barn or join us on a walk with the animals. Our animals are not a mere “petting zoo” nor spineless “therapy animals”. First and foremost, they need ample space, protection and care according to their needs.
We shall be patient and have time for them regularly. And that’s what we love to do!
