Almhütte Kärnten - Almhütte Troadkasten Stubeck

You would like to enjoy winter-activities directly outside your door? Sliding at the 6 km long toboggan run – snow shoe hiking and ski touring – this is what you can do starting from the mountain cabin. 

…and after the exciting activities the outdoor-hot tub is waiting for you! To keep your feet warm, there is a shoe heater in the hut!

You like skiing? So the hut is a perfect starting point! Different Carinthian Ski Regions are reachable within 30 minutes and 1 hour driving, like for example:

 ℘  Familymountain Goldeck: 25 km of pists / distance approx. 30 minutes by car

℘  Familyskiingarea Katschberg: 70 km of pists / distance approx. 35 minutes by car

The rustic Troadkasten is located high above Gmünd at 1750 m above sea level on sunny Stubeck.

Let yourself be carried away in a decelerated atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle and stress. Escape the daily grind, inhale the mountain air and enjoy the fantastic mountains.

*Domestic equipments*

The romantic cabin consists of a kitchen on the ground floor, a bedroom and a bathroom upstairs. The kitchen is fully equipped – also kettle, small fridge and coffee maker are available – is cooked with an additional stove (with wood).

– Bed linen, towels, tea towels are available and included in the price.

– The cabin is accessible by car throughout the year.

– Enjoy the stars from the new outdoor hot tub 

The Troadkasten offers an optimal combination of peace and comfort. Escape the swift life, treat yourself to a break – and still not give up the comfort of hot water, electricity, wellness and Wi-Fi.

Since June 2022 there is a new terrace with outdoor-whirlpool waiting for you!

Information on getting here by public transportation:

• Arrival by bus is possible (nearest bus stop: Gmünd, approximately 10,000 m away)
• Buses typically run 2-5 times per day on weekdays and 2-5 times per day on weekends and holidays
• Arrival by train is possible (nearest train station: Spittal, approximately 20 km away)
• From the train station to us: Hiking taxi or hiking bus
• Trains usually run 2-5 times per day on weekdays and 2-5 times per day on weekends and holidays
• In our community, we offer the following mobility options: Hiking bus or hiking taxi
• The nearest dining options (inn, supermarket, farm shop) are 0.5 km away
• Guests can travel by train to Spittal and by bus to Gmünd. From Gmünd, we organize a hiking taxi for them, which takes guests directly to the mountain hut.
