Preserve heritage. Add new, enriching elements. Leave individual traces. Share the place that is more than just a home with others. Feel welcome! All of this comes naturally on the Steinwender family’s farm. At this place, farming traditions and the future meet.
You can see it the moment you take a step on these beautiful lands nestled between meadows, orchards, forests and mountains, right in the stunning and natural Gitschtal valley. The holiday home “Ferienhaus Strohschneider” is a completely new construction adhering to ecological building standards. Guests can book two identical units with 85 m² each. Thanks to the timber frame construction, nature has been welcomed inside the house. Wood, this natural material, instantly brings a feeling of warmth and security. In summer and winter alike, there’s a pleasant temperature and humidity level. And the unique smell of wood instantly makes you calm down and relax.
Let’s be honest: Since you’re so close to our farm, time to relax is valuable. Life in our 300-year-old farmhouse is colourful and diverse. Sonja and Christian Steinwender run their farm together. The three kids Max, Leo and Ilvy are eager to help them. After all, there are 30 dairy cows, calves and young cattle to be taken care of. They are either roaming on the pastures or sleeping on a bed of straw in the barn. Plus, there’s the three cats Mandilo, Tiger and Minzi, Bessy, our dog, and chicken. All of them need special attention.
Starting from June, the young cattle and some of our cows spend their summer on the alpine pastures. Our lands are located on the mountain Guggenberg, a natural gem in the Gailtal valley. But don’t worry: Fresh milk and an egg for breakfast are always available on our farm. Our 10 hens take care of it ... under the supervision of their strict rooster!

- 10 min. walk to the small town of Hermagor
- 8 km to Lake Pressegger See and to the ski resort “Nassfeld”
- 15 min. drive to beautiful Lake Weißensee
