Bauernhof Mangeng

On our farm, the milk is still processed into butter and cheese ourselves. The meat for our bacon comes from our pigs and is slowly smoked and dried to the spicy house bacon. Furthermore, we offer homemade herbal salt from our garden and juice from the blossom and berry of the elder. When the harvest is rich, the farmer's wife also cooks strawberry jam in early summer and apple jelly in autumn.

Our farm is characterized by the keeping of Tyrolean Grey cattle, an endangered breed of livestock. Our animals are allowed to keep their horns, which requires a lot of patience and consideration.

In order to utilize skim milk and other by-products resulting from milk processing, fattening pigs also live on our farm. The chickens with their rooster Caruso have free range all day in summer and can also be found outside the front door.

Our rabbits Lucy and Gregor are always happy about fresh salad and grains.

And Missi, the cat, takes care of the flock of mice in the barn, but she prefers to lie lazily on the stove or in the sun.

In summer, from mid-June to early September, our cows, cattle and calves are on summer vacation at the alpine pasture "Kloschtner Älpele". A hike there is always worthwhile and our Älpler are certainly happy about a visit.
