The Location
The Montaninghof is located on a hill overlooking Forstau in the Oberberg region.
We are surrounded by untouched nature, perfect for hiking and sledding. The entrance to the "Bachweg" (creek path) is at the edge of our meadow. This is a beautiful trail with Kneipp springs and the opportunity to learn about herbs during the summer, and it is romantically lighted during the winter. An exciting trail for both children and adults!
The Fageralm ski lift is a short three-minute drive away, the Reiteralm can be reached in seven. The Planai is only 10 km away and also other skiing regions, such as Obertauern, Ski Amadé can be easily reached.
We have a beautiful view of Dachstein.
We are located close to the main highways, yet situated in an area that allows you to relax and enjoy your vacation in peace and quiet.

The farm
Our farm house was renovated and remodeled in 2005. The two rental apartments are on the top floor and offer a breathtaking view over Forstau. We breed cows at our farm, which means that during the winter we almost always have several calves in the stalls. They love to be petted! You are also welcome to pet and feed our small animals. They spend the entire year at the farm and, of course, are always happy to be fed and cuddled.
 
Meet the owners
We - Stefan and Manuela Rettensteiner - have been operating the Montaninghof farm since February 2008. I, Manuela, have been working on the farm full-time since summer 2011. Before that, I worked as a professional cook and baker in the hospitality industry. My husband Stefan is employed as a machine fitter and turner in the town of Schladming. He also works as a farmer, of course - we provide loving care to our animals.

Family holidays
It is important to us to provide you with a comfortable, relaxing environment. Family is important to us so we are always happy to welcome children to our farm. We have plenty of space outdoors for playing and running around. Your children will have no problem falling asleep at night!

We want to make sure that everyone enjoys themselves. We know that children need space and time to be active. The big meadow directly in front of our house is perfect for sledding or building snowmen - and anything else that they might dream up. I will be happy to take your children to visit our animals if they want to feed them or pet them.
