In winter, it’s even more quiet than in summer, here, on the mountain.

The harvest has been brought in. The hay is in the barn.

The animals are in the barn and need great (organic) care - and so do the house and the forest.

As you see, the silence is not to be mistaken with boredom. Not for us and not for our guests: Although snow cover cannot be guaranteed (anymore), the lake has been reflecting the white mountain tops for centuries and ice crystals are slowly but steadily adorning the rivers and streams.

The sun is often shining up here, also in winter, and the fog turns the lake in the valley into a sea of clouds. These are the pleasant surprises that await you on a winter holiday on our farm. Explore hiking trails up to the tree line and to the rustic mountain cabins that belong to the farmers of the Mirnock mountain.

In snowshoes, you can walk up to the top of the Mirnock without too much effort. Or you simply wander across the mountain forests and meadows and take in an unspoilt view of the Nockberge mountains and Lake Millstätter See.

You don’t need to bring your own sleigh or toboggan. We have them in store for you. We also prepare toboggan runs in the snow - provided that Jack Frost is pleased to make it happen.

Should you prefer gliding silently through the winter wonderland on two runners, we have good news for you: There’s one lake in Carinthia with an entirely frozen surface almost every winter. It has already made it into international news. Lake Weißensee, a mountain lake set on an altitude of 1,000 m, is near our place and easy to reach.

And even though our farm is shrouded in wintry fog every now and then - it’s only the precursor of something truly magical to see: Wait for the sunrays bursting through the clouds underneath one of the big, old trees that stand on our meadows in solitude.
