Our farm is located in the middle of the Hohe Tauern National Park and is surrounded by lush green meadows and forests.
About Us
All wrapped up in a cloak of white, nature enjoys its winter sleep. This marks the beginning of a quiet time here on our farm since the snow puts a stop to all the outdoor work. The animals are in the barn and are fed and tended to regularly, mornings and evenings. Our mother cows and calves are in cattle shed with open pens, meaning they can decide for themselves where they prefer to stay “inside or out”. For the most part, they prefer outside. Lois spends most of the time in the workshop manufacturing roof tiles made of larch wood, an ancient craft that we continue to nurture at our farm.
Behind the house, we have a hill – a true children’s paradise, perfect for slithering and sliding on sleds, bobs, discs, or even on a simple plastic bag. Together, we spend plenty of time enjoying the winter to the max. How about a walk in the wonderful fresh air, or quickly building a snowman? We also love to make the most of our ski area served by the Rauriser Hochalmbahnen lifts. This is an unbeatable family ski area, not too big, you never feel lost in the crowd, with lots of options for skiers of every kind. We particularly appreciate the short waiting times at the lifts and having plenty of “elbowroom” on the piste itself.
A hike in Kolm Saigurn, our valley head at the foot of the 3000ers, is an absolute must. Make your way up the mountain via a romantic pathway, sled in hand, and once at the top, simply enjoy the amazing panorama as you feel transported into a whole other world. And then… It will be time to zoom down the snow-covered road. Now that’s what we call fun! If you prefer not to hike so far, you can have yourself towed up the mountain by skidoo. And there’s so much else waiting to be discovered as well. But we will tell you more about that once you get here.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
Living on our farm are a variety of animals that we take care of daily. From April through October, every morning and evening we take care of their every need here at the farm.
