About Us
Welcome to the Windhofgut!
Our organic farm enjoys a sunny stand-alone location with beautiful views of our mountain world. We are a dedicated dairy farm and our guests are welcome to lend us a hand with the work in the cattle shed.
An ideal starting point for hikers, climbers and mountain bikers, you will discover numerous opportunities for your tours, both short and long.
You will also experience an idyllic world as you take a stroll close to our farm. For example, to the nearby Winterstellgut, where you will be able to enjoy a true culinary treat. Or enjoy a walk down the so-called Hay Figure Path, where the kids get to play a game of Fun Golf, guaranteeing that boredom will never be a factor.
Children get to run and play on our farm to their heart’s content. Regardless of whether the youngsters are out having fun on the playground, involved in ball games, driving the pedal tractor, riding go-karts or scooters – in the meantime, their parents can unwind completely on our new relaxing lounger, enjoying the peace & quiet along with the magnificent scenery.
Some of our animals spend the summer in our own alpine grazing area higher up in the mountains – known as the Stuhlalm – which you can reach by hiking for approximately 2 hours from our farm (or if you prefer to drive part of the way, in 1 hour).
Yet another highlight is our treehouse. With a little bit of luck, at sunset you might even catch sight of a few wild animals.
For the duration of your stay, you will receive the Tennengau Plus Card free of charge, which comes with numerous advantages for you as our guest. For example, guided hikes, weekly yoga on the mountain, “Gaudi Golf” and free summertime lift rides on the Donnerkogelbahn. On hot days, free admission to Waldbad Lungötz promises welcome refreshment in and around the pool. For more information, please visit www.tennengau.com.
We, the Schilchegger family, look forward to welcoming you here as our personal guests!

Welcome to the Windhofgut!

In winter, our great location offers you many advantages. Our farm is just 1.5 km from the Dachstein West ski area, promising great skiing enjoyment for big and small.
The weekly snowshoeing expedition and free introductory cross-country ski course organized by the local tourist office are not to be missed. In neighboring towns and villages, you can also explore numerous sled runs. The snow tubing hill in St. Martin is a unique experience for children – ride an inflated tire at full speed down the mountain, then take the lift right back to the top.
For those who like to stay active in the evening, Lungötz offers floodlit cross-country as well as downhill skiing.
Around our farm, we provide plenty of space to build snowmen, have snowball fights, or zip down the hillside on our very own bob track. Sleds, bobs, snow sliders, ice stocks, shovels… all available for you to borrow free of charge.
We are also happy to organize romantic carriage rides for you with our neighbors, who will pick you up from right here at the farm.
A winter walk through the snowy winter countryside promises pure enjoyment.
We, the Schilchegger family, look forward to welcoming you here as our personal guests!

- Our cows provide fresh raw milk for our guests daily year-round.
- Depending on how many they lay, our hens supply eggs for breakfast.
- Hannes is an expert in transforming our organic fruit into something truly special – apples, pears, plums and rowanberries are distilled into exquisite schnapps.
- A certified farm educator, Andrea never has a shortage of cooking and baking tips along with regional recipes. Once a week, she also bakes fresh farmhouse-style bread and breakfast rolls.
- Our own fruit as well as seasonal wild berries from nearby alpine pastures and forests are used to make delicious jams and marmalades.
- Naturally, in our holiday apartments you will also enjoy best-quality drinking water straight from our own spring.
Every Friday afternoon from 2 to 5 PM, a farmers’ market is held at Lagerhaus Annaberg, a great opportunity to buy delicious regional produce from local farmers.
The Adeg store in Annaberg also features a regional foods corner stocked with specialties from nearby farms.
Our cows supply our guests with fresh milk every day throughout the year. Even in summer, some of our cows stay at home here on the farm. And who knows, during your stay you might even experience the birth of a little baby calf.
Our calves and some cows spend the summer months in our alpine grazing area – the Stuhlalm – but are back at the farm again in September.
The cackling you hear around the farm comes from our hens, who, depending on how productive they are, will provide your eggs for breakfast.
Thanks to our 2 domestic ducks, snails in our garden are a rarity.
Our rabbit and our cat, Minga, are always pleased to be petted and pampered by guests.
Children are welcome to lend a hand with the barn work, which we do roughly between 6 in the morning and 4:30 in the afternoon. Just remember to bring suitable clothing and rubber boots (though we do have a few items you can borrow, if needed).
