Do you prefer combining physical activity with sightseeing on a cycling tour? Feel the cool wind in your hair and the sun caressing your skin as you keep pedalling. Take a break whenever you like. For Recreational Cyclists & Families

The Danube Cycle Path (“Donauradweg”) is the perfect choice for families and all those who fancy a more leisurely bike ride. It doesn’t come as a surprise that this scenic route is the most popular one in Central Europe. It’s easy to plan a tour with your family or friends since there’s a lot of information about stages to cycle in one or several days and the route is well signposted. Along the way, you’ll pass plenty of snack bars, cider and wine taverns as well as farms to stay in. Thus, you can be sure that you’ll find everything you need apart from a great cycle path. Cycle past secret alleyways and rustic wineries offering delicious products from their cellars for sale. The cycle route along the Marchfeld channel (“Marchfeldkanal-Radweg”) takes you through “Vienna’s vegetable garden” and combines the pleasure of cycling with cultural and culinary highlights. Immerse yourself in the history of the region as you cycle along the banks of the river, crossing a beautiful natural habitat. It’s fascinating to learn what happened here! Which role did general Napoleon Bonaparte play in this region? Who won the Battle of Aspern-Essling? Simply visit one of the museums along the way and find out! Go back to the Biedermeier period, 200 years ago, as you cycle the “Biedermeier-Radweg” in the Piestingtal valley. Look at this beautiful scenery! It’s a leisurely ride from the village of Markt Piesting via Sollenau to Gutenstein. A gentle, family-friendly route on flat terrain. Those who fancy a decent challenge can take a detour. The ascent via the Haselrast pass will make you sweat (or swear?). But once you’re on top, you’ll be rewarded with a spectacular view. Promise!

For Travellers on Multi-Day Routes & Cycling Holidays

With a vast network of 260km of cycle routes, Lower Austria is a great place for long-distance cycling tours. To put it like this: 138 tours that are 100+km in length are waiting for you. That’s quite a distance! But don’t feel rushed - there are many farms to stay in along the way. Have a rest, enjoy a hearty, healthy breakfast on the farm and recharge your batteries for the day ahead. It’s not a matter of fitness, but of planning! For those who love cycling, there’s nothing better than pedalling through the countryside several days in a row.

For Seasoned Pros & Thrill-Seekers

Easy - intermediate - difficult. Mountain biking is a very individual adventure. Explore tours tailored to your needs - whether you prefer biking through the forest, up hill and down dale or across soft alpine pastures, whether you’d like to see cultural gems and taste culinary delights along the way or “simply” enjoy lovely country views. Mountain bikers can choose from day trips or multi-day tours such as the amazing “granite trail” crossing the Waldviertel region (“Waldviertler Granittrail”). Are you new to mountain biking? Check out one of the many bike parks and trail centres. The bike parks on the mountain Semmering (“Zauberberg Semmering”) or Königsberg in the Mostviertel region cater well for beginners and seasoned riders alike. Novice riders who’d like to tackle some downhill trails and those who’d like to improve their technique will find exciting trails and skills areas. For the little ones, the mini bike park in St. Corona am Wechsel is the ideal place to explore their favourite leisure activity for the years to come.
