Anyone who’s prospecting for gold in the Gailtal valley will discover a treasure in Hermagor, in the apartments of the Kronhofer family. In 2014, Arno Kronhofer restored the old barn and carpenter’s workshop, transforming it into high-quality apartments and an apiary for guided tours. Far from the crowds, surrounded by nature, wildflower meadows and forests, this is place is a paradise for Arno’s busy and friendly Carniolan honey bees.
Alpine rose honey, wildflower honey or forest honey from the Gailtal valley - our honey jars contain the gold of the Gailtal valley. Besides, we produce plant pollen, honey-flavoured liqueur, propolis and beeswax.
Since then, the Carniolan honey bee (Apis mellifera carnica) is a symbol of our region. It’s said to be extremely gentle in its behaviour and it’s enriching for our lives.
