In the heart of Gastein Valley, at the foot of the Schlossalm, our “4 flower”-awarded Maurachgut organic farm provides a very special place for your holidays in Bad Hofgastein. In harmony with nature, in summer you will be able to spend a rejuvenating timeout amid green meadows at 1000 m above sea level, surrounded by magical peaks and picture-perfect Alpine landscapes. Enjoy the fresh air, the magnificent scenery of the Hohe Tauern mountains, and the reenergizing tranquility that only a farm holiday in Salzburger Land can bring.
Barely a 7-minute drive (2 km) from us is the town center of Bad Hofgastein, the Alpentherme Gastein spa resort as well as the valley lift terminal of the Schlossalmbahn. Numerous hiking paths can be reached directly from our farm. Furthermore, Gastein Valley offers you a wide selection of excursions and recreational opportunities. In snowy winters, you can ski all the way back down to the Maurachgut and even reach the piste on foot as well, while a natural sledding hill is also located just behind our organic farm.
Our newly renovated, well-equipped holiday apartments invite you to unwind completely. If you wish, we will be happy to put together a lavish breakfast basket for you, filled with our own farm products such as fresh milk, butter, bread, eggs, teas from our herb garden, a selection of marvelous homemade jams as well as healthy juices. Our own spring water. Free Wi-Fi is available in all rooms.
Cows, calves, hens, sheep, lambs, goats, horses, cats as well as our miniature pony, Sissi - We invite you and your children to experience daily life on the farm, and even help us out a little bit with some of the work. Enjoy direct contact with the animals and their animal babies. The beautiful surrounding countryside, our forest and a small stream running through the farm itself promise ample play opportunities for the youngsters.

Here at the Maurachgut, we are especially proud of the wide variety of our own farm products, all of which are produced with boundless love and care. Everything provided to us by nature is turned into sweet and savory treats: our milk provides the raw ingredients for butter, cheese and yogurt; the eggs come from our free-range hens; fresh fruit is turned into jams and juices; herbal teas come from our own farmhouse garden. Due to the natural rhythm of nature, of course, a number of products are only available on a seasonal basis. We also have our very own spring water!
Upon request, we will be happy to put together a sumptuous breakfast basket filled with our own farmhouse products.
Immerse yourself completely in life on the farm, get to know all of our farm animals, our nature and culture. You are very welcome to lend a hand with the daily farm work, which will vary according to season (milking, feeding the animals, harvesting and processing herbs, bringing in the hay, making yogurt,…).
You will find numerous animals on our traditional farm throughout the year. The core of our operation are 10 dairy cows and 20 young animals (“Fleckvieh” cattle), raised right here on the farm. A number of dairy cows, calves, our miniature pony Sissi and other small animals (e.g. lambs, a goat) graze the fields close to our farmhouse during the summer months. The remaining cows, sheep, goats and horses are driven up to our nearby alpine pastures, where they spend the summer enjoying the nature and freedom provided by this beautiful mountain area.
Our organic farm is also home to a number of small animals including cats and hens.
