About Us

Our mountain lodge is located at an altitude of 1,610 m in a picturesque valley basin on the Ursprungalm in a village of lodges, 1 hour from the Giglach Lake. In 1988 one of the Heidi films was shot here.

The lodge is split into two halves, with one half used by the owner themselves.

The Ursprungalm guesthouse is located opposite.

For unloading luggage you can can drive right up to the lodge and then the car should be parked 5 minutes away at the parking lot.

Just like on every mountainside in Austria, the Ursprungalm and the surrounding area is home to free-roaming cattle, horses, sheep and goats. Particular care should be take with cows that are accompanied by their calves. Please don't approach these animals because their natural instinct is to protect and defend their calves! If you are walking with your dog, please take the long way round to avoid the cattle, because dogs are among the natural enemies of the cattle and can often become the victims of an attack. Generally dogs should be kept on a lead on the mountainside.

Close to the lodges there are also free-roaming rabbits and cats. Therefore we also ask: Please keep your dogs on a lead and never let them roam around on their own!

The lodge features a cosy living area with a wood-burning stove, gas cooker, seating area with a dining table, sink, sofa bed for 2 people. There's a wet area separated by a wooden wall with a shower and a wash basin. There's a WC in the hallway. There's a naturally cool storeroom for food. In the loft there's a sleeping area for 5 persons (1 double and 3 single beds).

Warm water is provided by a gas boiler - light is provided by solar energy. There is no electricity at the lodge.

A barbecue and seating is to be found in front of the lodge.
